I'm going to cut to the chase...

Too many are intimidated by SEO because the industry uses jargon that scares people out of learning it (much like finance). Today we're crushing those myths, it doesn't have to be hard. While SEO can get WAY more complicated than this, I guarantee following these steps will bring you better web traffic.

This propelled my first company to make millions in profits without spending a cent on paid ads and can do the same for you.

And with the high price of effective paid ads, SEO is a life raft for customer acquisition cost.

Step 1: Effective Research

To get quick wins in SEO focus on keywords and pages that already have impressions and clicks...start by going to Google Search Console and:

  • Sorting by queries

  • Expanding or exporting to excel

  • Looking for high impressions (100s - 10000s) and low click keywords

  • Sort by pages to see which pages are ranking for the keyword(s)

  • Plug keyword into SEMrush to find related keywords

The keyword below has opportunity for 10-20x growth in clicks (or more) and is already ranking in a solid position.

Improve avg. position to 10 or 5 (keep reading!) and let the money printer run $$$$$!

Step 2: On-Page Optimization

With the keywords and pages identified, now it's time for on-page optimization. Add the keyword or keyword variations to the:

  • Page Title

  • Meta Description

  • Header 1

  • Sub Headers (related keywords on H2, H3, etc. )

  • Paragraph text

Here's a visualization of where you need to place these on-page elements. A user-friendly CMS like WordPress or Webflow makes it super easy to implement on-page.

Step 3: Backlinks to the Page

Google decides to rank a website/page based on whether it's trustworthy or not. To build trust you need backlinks, which are links from other websites that point back to yours. These act as algorithmic "votes of confidence" that encourage Google to view your site positively (and then rank it).

But there's a catch...

To get links that will actually boost your authority, they need be in your niche and have respectable authority themselves. You can lookup Domain Authority (DA) using SEMrush or Ahrefs and determine if a site is worth trying to get a backlink from. As a benchmark, I usually consider 25+ good and 50+ excellent.

Make sure the link anchor text [text that is hyperlinked] contains the target keyword and the embedded link is the target URL on your website.

How to get links:

  • Use SEMrush or Ahrefs to find prospect sites

  • Launch email campaigns to blog editors

  • Pay (yes this happens), ask for a placement, or barter with them.

  • Or just hire someone to do it for you.

Backlinks are critical for ranking and attracting ideal customers. They're ambiguous but it's worth learning everything you can, the ROI is infinite.

Quick Summary:

Attracting ideal customers to your website turns your site from a "box checker" to a real digital asset. With patience and persistence the tactics outlined will work. Forget the complex strategies and jargon and just get started.
