399 Free Content Ideas in 2 Minutes

A never-ending supply of Google ready content topics in minutes.

Hey Everybody 👋

Developing content ideas feels like a chore — it used to be my least favorite part of SEO. But over the years I've learned a few tricks that make it easy...

One, in particular, allows me to routinely come up with 399+ content ideas that will actually rank in Google, in less than 2 minutes...🚀🚀🚀

Let's dive in...

Custom Search in Google Search Console (GSC)

A quick primer on GSC: It's the free portal Google provides to access all of your search data. It includes information about: keywords, clicks, impressions, page rank, errors, indexing issues, sitemaps, and more.

Basically, everything you'll ever need to know about your site's SEO can be found in GSC.

It also tracks every keyword, phrase, and question based query that shows a searcher your site — making it a GOLDMINE of data for how customers and Google interpret the site.

It's so valuable because it's 100x easier to improve an existing ranking than it is to rank a keyword for the first time. It's like finding 100s of "warm" content topics that will help people solve real problems that they're requesting help with.

Solved problems = $$$

Here's the process:

Regex Google Search
  1. Log into Google Search Console

  2. Click the "Performance" tab on the left

  3. Click the "New" tab on the right of "Date"

  4. Click "Query" and filter to "Custom (regex)"

  5. Enter the following expression: (?i)^(who|what|when|where|why|how|is)

  6. Click "Apply"

This will filter all searches (in the defined time period) for questions that start with the words in the parenthesis above (who, what, when, where, why, how, is).

In the image above, look at the questions that are returned as a result...they're highly actionable with purchasing intent — 399 questions that are perfect for blogs AND you're already ranking for the keywords.

Ex: Where to buy shipping boxes?

Ex: How to pack moving boxes?

Next, decide whether to:

  1. Create a new blog directly answering that question

  2. Improve an existing blog to provide clearer answers

My rule of thumb is if there are less than a thousand impressions in the last 3 months (shown in the table to the right of the key phrase) then create a new blog. With > 1000 impressions it's better to improve the existing piece of content that's already ranking.

In the blog use the keyword (or related) in these places:

  • URL

  • Title Tag

  • H1

  • Meta Description

  • Anchor text for internal links

  • Alt text for images

  • Related phrases as sub-headers (H2)

Write naturally and answer the question in a helpful and clear way — and you'll rank.

Use actual data from your customers and Google to guide your content plan and watch your results explode without the guesswork.
